Our Life in the Windy City: The Right Coast

Once again, I'm long overdue with my blog updates, but here goes.

In the middle of August, Luke and I packed up and drove 16 hours across the country with a bride and her pup. We spent a few days in Connecticut with my family before heading up to her wedding in New Hampshire.

There, we got to meet my family's newest addition, Dixie:

She's a beagle mix, but we're not sure what with. Guesses are welcome. Our best guess is a Jack Russell terrier.

We had a lof of fun in Connecticut, and while we have our normal spots we like to go when we are home, this time we branched out a little and tried a few new things, like Mystic (new to Luke, but I hadn't been there in a long time myself), including Mystic Pizza, site of the filming of Julia Roberts' first big role.

After that, we stopped at a winery Luke had researched.

And then an impromptu stop for blueberry picking. I was hoping that we could do some canning (as in preserving them in cans), but no one else was up for that in the 90+ degree heat.

After some great time with my family, we were off to New Hampshire for the Page-Rivas wedding in our PRIUS!

We decided to splurge and get a hybrid for our rental car. We loved it (and I would guess that we saved in gas what we spent on the extra for a hybrid)! It was tempting not to skip town with it when it was due back at Hertz.

That same night (Thursday) was Jamie's 2nd bachelorette party which involved spa parrafin wax treatments, a limo, and Mexican food (with margaritas, of course):

On Friday, we spent some time on the beach before a storm rolled in to camp. That night we had the rehearsal and rehearsal dinner. (Almost) everything went very smoothly, and the rain even cleared up in time for Jamie and Joey to put on the fireworks show they had planned!
